El paso de Shingo-La marca un momento clave en nuestro trek. Esta bastante alto, y para cruzarlo se requiere una buena aclimatación previa junto a una meteorología amable, no hay ningún otro secreto para evitar llevarse un susto o disgusto, es la única receta para disfrutar. La mayoría de las expediciones que lo cruzan lo hacen en un sentido contrario al que nosotros lo hacemos, llegan a este punto mucho más aclimatados porque van terminando su trek, vienen de Padum y terminan en Darcha; nosotros lo hacemos al revés porque venimos de Manali y queremos terminar la ruta en el monasterio de Thonge, desde donde continuamos rumbo a Kashemira.
En cierto modo tras cruzar este paso de altura dejamos atrás los valles de Himachal Pradesh y nos sumergimos definitivamente en Zanskar (Ladakh). Llevamos días que miramos una y otra vez el mapa, ubicamos los ríos que habrá que saltar tras cruzar el Shingo –La, anticipamos los valles que iremos descubriendo etapa tras etapa. Tenemos en mente los barrancos que se abren camino al borde de aquellos monasterios perdidos, ubicados estratégicamente cerca de los escasos “oasis” que aparecen para refrescar y contrastar este territorio sobre todo seco y agreste, leemos en el mapa nombres sin vida que nos hablan de remotos caseríos que aún ausentes de rostros ya nos son familiares; sabemos que tras pasar al otro lado nos sorprenderá una erguida murralla de roca llamada Gumburanjon.
Solo hay una manera de darle vida a todo aquello. Solo hay una forma de saber si aquellos riachuelos que aparecen en el mapa bajaran secos o caudalosos, hay que llegar a ellos. Hay que acercarse, sentir su silencio o su rugir. Para darles vida hay que refrescarse en ellos o comer el polvo que dejan tus propias huellas.
Hay que pasar al otro lado…, hay que cruzar los 5100 metros del Shingo-La (ver video) para sumergirse en Zanskar, el “Tibet Indio”

I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed at the same time. They were so impacted that they were growing into my jaw. I had local anesthesia in the surgery. The surgery itself wasn’t really too painful (besdies the shots to numb you up). It’s after the surgery when the medication goes away that you will experience A LOT of pain and swelling in the cheeks.
