Tras cruzar el paso de Shingo-La aparece una de las mejores sorpresas de todo nuestro recorrido por Zanskar, el Gumburanjon (Gumbok Rangan). Realmente los más de 1300 metros de roca erguida con los que emerge sobre el valle de Kargiak, impresionan.
La imagen que proyecta desde lo llano del valle es sobrecogedora, imponente. ¿Como no entender que la gente local considere al Gumburanjon una montaña sagrada con las sensaciones que nos genera al tenerla delante nuestro? Sin importar nuestras creencias o nuestra ausencia de ellas, esta montaña no deja a nadie indiferente; ¿porqué?
¿Porque despierta nuestra más profunda atención y acelera nuestras vivencias en el “Tibet Indio” ?
A su sombra se vuelve natural mezclarse con la continuidad de stupas, shortens, monasterios y aquellas plegarias talladas en las rocas que la rodean. En su compañía disfruto aún más los colores de las banderas de oración que se sacuden al viento, y los mantras budistas que suenan dentro, cobran mucho más eco. Mientras mas nos adentramos en lo profundo del valle y en los surcos tallados en los rostros de su gente, comparto más la atracción que generan las montañas a lo largo de todo el mundo, en culturas de todas partes, en rincones increíblemente alejados unos de otros. Donde desde tiempos inmemoriales todos coinciden al encarnar en las montañas sus valores más elevados, sus creencias mas profundas, su mayor fuente de inspiración.

como la manifestación en la tierra de lo que se considera sagrado.

[…] En cierto modo tras cruzar este paso de altura dejamos atrás los valles de Himachal Pradesh y nos sumergimos definitivamente en Zanskar (Ladakh). Llevamos días que miramos una y otra vez el mapa, ubicamos los ríos que habrá que saltar tras cruzar el Shingo –La, anticipamos los valles que iremos descubriendo etapa tras etapa. Tenemos en mente los barrancos que se abren camino al borde de aquellos monasterios perdidos, ubicados estratégicamente cerca de los escasos “oasis” que aparecen para refrescar y contrastar este territorio sobre todo seco y agreste, leemos en el mapa nombres sin vida que nos hablan de remotos caseríos que aún ausentes de rostros ya nos son familiares; sabemos que tras pasar al otro lado nos sorprenderá una erguida murralla de roca llamada Gumburanjon.
